IS commander killed in Afghanistan drone attack

Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby, addressing a news briefing here in Washington, said that Mulla Abdul Rauf was hatching plots against United States and Afghan officials.

He was handed over to Afghanistan after being released from Guantanamo Bay detention camp in 2007.

Pentagon spokesman added that the United States is not underestimating the threats of Islamic State in Afghanistan however the terrorist organization want to strengthen their foothold in the country.

Kirby stated that IS also wants to increase their strength and influence in Iraq and Syria.
