KARACHI: A current spell of cold winds has gripped most of the cities in the country and caused the temperature to decrease.
Pakistan meteorological department has predicted that mercury can fall two to three degrees more in the next few days. According to details, cold increased due to north-east chilly winds.
It is pertinent to mention here that mercury has fallen to below zero centigrade in Quetta and the cold weather compelled people to buy warm clothes in Peshawar and other cities to fight the frosty weather conditions.
The met office on October 30 had predicted that a westerly wave is likely to enter upper parts of the country on Tuesday. Under the influence of this weather system rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan and other parts of the country. Snow fall over the hills were also expected in Swat, Murree, Gilgit-Baltistan and other cities.

The weather department had said that currently continental air was prevailing over the most parts of the country, intensifying the ongoing cold spell.
‘Very’ cold weather was expected in Balochistan and northern parts of the country, besides dense foggy conditions over plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours, the weather forecasting department had said.
People around the country had put on warm clothes to fight frosty weather conditions.
In last 24 hours, the weather had been remained cold and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm had occurred at isolated places in Malakand and Hazara divisions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
