LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday said that a comprehensive strategy should be adopted to promote literary and cultural activities in the province, ARY News reported.
According to a statement released from his office, the CM Punjab while reviewing the steps with regard to promotion of literary activities, said that cultural activities should be promoted and local artists should be especially encouraged in this regard.
He maintained that the promotion of cultural and literary activities is very important in today’s tense environment and the information and culture department should present a comprehensive strategy for promotion of such activities.
The chief minister said that Punjab is very rich when it comes to art, history and culture and it has produced famous names in different fields.
“There is a need to highlight the artistic abilities of local artists and different ceremonies should also be arranged at the level of division, district and tehsil in which local artists and writers should be particularly invited,” said the CM Punjab.
He maintained that this step would help the people to become aware of local traditions along with providing them moments of rest and recreation.
The chief minister directed the secretary information and culture that the comprehensive plan should be presented soon for promoting cultural and literary activities in the province.
Secretary information Bilal Butt informed the CM Punjab the department is already working for the promotion of art and culture and different programs have been given final shape in this regard.
