BEIJING: China is ready to work with the new Pakistani government and hopes that the country will maintain political and social stability and focus on development.
This was stated by the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang during the regular press conference on Thursday in Beijing.
The spokesman was asked over the likelihood that Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan seems to take a lead in the elections and would form the next government.
He said that China was pleased to see that Pakistan has held a successful election, and sincerely hope that it will maintain political and social stability and focus on national development.
He said China-Pakistan friendship receives heartfelt support and acclamation, the elections results will the relation between both countries. “Whatever the result of the election is, it won’t affect the development of China-Pakistan relations,” he stated.
He further said that China is ready to work with the new Pakistani government for greater progress in the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
