The storm surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat (formerly Padmavati) refuses to die down despite the fact that the Central Board of Film Certification has given it U/A certificate after suggesting some cuts including i from its name.
The film that was slated to release on December 1 got stuck in controversy after some Rajput groups alleged it of distorting history, a claim times and again denied by the director.
In a latest development, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje on Monday said ‘Padmavat’ won’t be released in her state.

The story of the film revolves around a queen of Rajput clan, Padmini, and a Muslim ruler Allauddin Khilji.
“Rani Padmini’s martyrdom and sacrifice are an honour for everyone,” said Raje in a media release.
The chief minister said it was more than just history for them. She said she had asked Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria to step forward and prevent the release of the movie in Rajasthan.
This has been announced after release date of the much-anticipated flick is set to be January 25.
Padmavat is going for a clash with Pad Man as the latter movie is also releasing on the same date. The Pad Man makers have said they would not change date for their movie’s release, come what may.
