ISLAMABAD: In a meeting after the submission of final report regarding Panamagate probe in Supreme Court, top PML-N leadership has advised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to resign, sources told ARY News on Monday.

According to ARY News Islamabad Bureau Chief Sabir Shakir, a meeting was held in PM House after the big development in which most of the party leaders and cabinet members have asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to resign, stay put and contest the matter legally and politically.

Shakir claimed that there are differences within PML-N over the matter with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar as the biggest opponent of this advice, who has not attended the meeting and wants the party to elect a new leader of the house but PM Nawaz has chosen to go with the aye-sayers.

ARY News Islamabad correspondent Azhar Farooq, majority of PML-N leaders who attended the PM House meeting has suggested the PM not to resign and face the case while in office.

It is pertinent to note here that PML-N leaders Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal and Barrister Zafarullah did a press conference and not only rejected the JIT report but termed it Dharna three (a continuation of sit-ins by PTI) and accused the JIT members of not sticking to their mandate and expediting the investigation to the extent of becoming a trial court itself.

“The way in which JIT was run and the way in which revenge tactics were used through JIT, this report has proved all our reservations and it won’t be wrong if you call this report ‘Imran Nama’,  as this report is the combination of a political party ‘s  accusations whose so-called evidence was even called worthless trash,” said Ahsan Iqbal.

He added that PML-N and country’s enemies will not succeed in their nefarious designs but this “JIT report will fail like Dharna One and Dharna Two”.

“This Dharna 3 too will fail like Dharna 1 and Dharna 2,” said Ahsan Iqbal.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, on the other hand, termed the report ‘inconclusive’ and a ‘source-based report’ which has no worth before a court of law.

The minister said that the PML-N is still ready to fight the legal battle in the court and will demolish all accusations against the Sharif family, excercising all available legal options.
