Chained man recovered from a private lockup of Pakpattan police

PAKPATTAN: Taking action on a complaint of a citizen, Zahid Farooq, court bailiff raided at a house in Pakpattan and recovered his chained son, ARY News reported on Sunday.

The house was located near City Police Station in Arifwala and being used as private lockup. The police kept people in their illegal confinement at the private lockup and subjected them to torture so as to get maximum amount of  bribe from their relatives.

Arsalan, the chained man, told the bailiff that the police had arrested him under the fake charges of theft. Arsalan was presented before a court where the judge had sought an explanatory report from the police.

In a video clip, which went viral on social media, Zahid Farooq accused the police of forcing him to withdraw the case. He said that SHO City Arifwala was threatening him and pressurizing for compromise.

Zahid Farooq demanded of the Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to take notice of the issue and provide him justice.

Sources said that Sahiwal’s regional police officer had taken notice of the issue and summoned the concerned police officials on Monday.

Earlier, a citizen, Obaid, had lodged a complaint against the Station House Officer (SHO) Sarwar ‘Commando’ for torturing, taking bribe and illegal confinement at the Sindh Home Department on March 15.

Obaid had said in his plea that police personnel had stopped him during snap checking in the jurisdiction of Ferozabad Police Station, when he was traveling in a car along with his friend and seized his lincensed pistol and Rs60,000.

The citizen had said that they tortured him over resistance and took him to the Ferozabad Police Station, where SHO Sarwar Commando again tortured him and sought bribe worth Rs500,000.
