Officials of the Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday said the election campaign for the by-polls will conclude by 12 at mid-night today.
The ECP has declared all the polling stations in the constituency as ‘sensitive’. Voters will not be permitted to take their cell phones inside the polling booths; only presiding officers will be entitled to carry a mobile phone.
“On the whole, 213 polling stations have been set up in the constituency NA-246 Karachi, out of which the number of polling stations for both men and women are 183,” they said. “There are 15 polling stations separately for male and female voters.”
Officials said that there are a total of 769 polling booths, 372 for women and 397 for men.
There are a total of 3,57,781 registered voters in the constituency comprising 1,96,187 males and 1,61,594 females.
ECP officials told that the presiding officers will be provided election material by tomorrow, while CCTV cameras will also be installed at all the polling stations by Wednesday evening.
MQM establishes its central election office
On the other hand, Muttahida Qaumi Movement has established its central election office in NA-246.
The office was set up to guide the voters in the constituency, at which the voter lists, obtained by the ECP, have also been kept to comprehensively elaborate the masses about their votes.
