Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has won most of the seats in local government elections in the country’s 41 cantonment boards as the counting of votes is underway, ARY News reported on Monday.
The voting process started at 8 am and continued till 5 pm without any break.
As per unofficial results, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leading with 58 seats, followed by independent candidates who have won 49 seats so far.
Among the Opposition parties, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won 51 seats, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) 14, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM) 10, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) 5, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) 3, Awami National Party (ANP) 2 and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has won one seat.

According to unofficial, unconfirmed results 9 independent candidates have one from nine wards while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured one seat.
Ward No 1: Independent nominee secured victory.
Ward No 2: Independent candidate Ghulam Jeelani secured victory.
Ward No 3: PML-N candidate Akhtar Rasool emerged successful.

A total of 1,513 candidates were in the run for 206 general seats in as many wards of the cantonment boards.
878 candidates were in the field in 112 wards of 19 cantonments in Punjab, 418 in 53 wards of eight cantonments in Sindh, 170 candidates in 33 wards of nine cantonments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and 47 candidates in eight wards of three cantonments in Balochistan.

The ruling PTI fielded over 170 candidates in all four provinces, followed by 140 of the PML-N and 112 of the PPP. 105 candidates of the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) are in the run in the four provinces.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) fielded 41 and 33 candidates, respectively, in the cantonment boards in Karachi and Hyderabad.
