Canadian PM Trudeau breaks fast with Muslim parliamentarians

The Canadian Premier broke the fast with Muslim members of the caucus by devouring dates and other kinds of traditional delicacies of the holy month of Ramazan.

The video of Canadian PM breaking the fast was posted on his Facebook page with the caption: “It was a pleasure to celebrate Iftar and break the first Ramazan fast with Muslim members of our caucus last night.”

In his statement on the holy month of Ramazan, Justin Trudeau said that Muslims in Canada and around the world embark upon a month-long spiritual journey of fasting, prayer, and reflection to commemorate the revealing of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

He went on to say that Muslims fast during daylight hours to increase their patience, closeness to God, and generosity towards those less fortunate in the month of Ramazan.

He added that it is a time of community, when the followers of the religion invite their friends and neighbours to share their food, recite prayers together and encourage each other to give to charity.

“On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish all those observing this holy month a blessed and peaceful Ramazan,” the statement read.
