Decision on establishment of military courts likely today

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet is likely to decide on the establishment of the military courts today (Friday), ARY News reported, citing sources. 

Initially, the defense ministry suggested the establishment of five military courts in Rawalpindi and Lahore to try the suspects arrested involved in attacks on military installations on May 9.

Sources further said that the federal cabinet members will be briefed on the Army and Official Secret Act by the defense and the law ministries.

Furthermore, the cabinet will also give a nod to the decision taken in the recently held National Security Committee (NSC) meeting.

Earlier this week, the Special Corps Commanders Conference chaired by COAS General Asim Munir expressed the firm resolve that those involved in heinous crimes against the military installations and personal/ equipment will be brought to justice through trials under relevant laws of Pakistan including Pakistan Army Act and Official Secret Act.

The Forum resolved that restraint will no longer be exercised against perpetrators, spoilers and violators who attack military installations and setups under any circumstances.
