Blind Cricket World Cup: India defeat Pakistan by seven wickets

AJMAN: Defending champion India on Friday defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the Blind Cricket World Cup at Oval Cricket Ground here.

Winning the toss, India opted to bowl first.

Pakistan notched up 282 for eight wickets in the stipulated 40 overs. Muhammad Jamil remained unbeaten on 94 runs.

Jamil and captain Nisar Ali added 137 runs for the third wicket until the skipper was bowled by Ajay Reddy for 63.

For India, Sunil, Deepak, Ajay Reddy and Rambir took a wicket a piece.

India comfortably chased down the target in 34.5 overs owing to their strong batting line-up.

Haryana’s Deepak Malik top-scored with an unbeaten 79 off 71 balls, striking eight boundaries, while Venkatesh (64 off 55 balls) and skipper Ajay Reddy (47 off 34) shared 106 runs for the fourth wicket.

Deepak Malik was awarded as Man of the Match while Pakistan’s Muhammad Jamil was recognised as most valuable player.

Pakistan came into the game on the back of two victories over Bangladesh and Nepal.
