Bilawal slams govt for neglecting labour class in uplift schemes

KARACHI: Calling Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) the guardian of labourers’ rights, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday jibed at the development scheme of federal government by stating that they build orange lines but not hospitals for the poor.

The chairman PPP was addressing a ceremony held to mark ‘Labour Day’ at Chief Minister House in Karachi. Lambasting federal government for its policies, Bilawal said that the government had adopted anti-farmers and labourer policies by depriving them from their rights and building offshore properties.

Enumerating the party initiatives for the welfare of labour class, he said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto mobilised them at one platform by introducing labour friendly policies.

“The duties of Z.A Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto cannot be forgotten which they had undertaken for prosperity and welfare of labour class”, Bilawal added.

Separately, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira talking to media on Monday accused federal government of erecting hurdles for the party to hold a public gathering in Punjab.

He announced that PPP would hold a protest at Minar-e-Pakistan on May 4 over federal government’s attitude towards the party.

“Previously we have been stopped by Taliban to hold public meetings and gatherings and now by the federal government”, Kaira added.

Rejecting Newsgate scandal report, he assumed high-profile persons among government ranks involved in leaking sensitive information by dispelling the revelations made in report which held Tariq Fatemi and others responsible for the incident.
