Taking exception to both estranged PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at a massive rally in Badin, Bilawal said: “The PTI chairman takes along spiritual leaders to Sindh to bestow their followers with a glance at them.”
Taunting at the skipper, he said politics is in his blood and questioned, “Did anyone ever teach a fish how to swim?”
In response to PTI’s slogan of change, the PPP chairman reminded that to bring a change, one is required to render sacrifices.
In a veiled criticism on Zulfiqar Mirza, he slammed that the ones who called Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto their sister have shifted their loyalties today, adding that his mother was also deserted by many of her uncles.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reached Golarchi and led a rally to Badin on the last day of the electioneering for the second phase of the local bodies elections.
Badin, a stronghold of PPP in southern Sindh, has become a political battlefield with the anti-PPP forces led by the estranged party leader and former home minister Zulfiqar Mirza and Arbab Group.
He addressed the rallies while on his way to Badin, ahead of the Nov 19 local government elections.
He was received by the provincial ministers, PPP’s Badin district MNAs, MPAs, senators and local party leaders upon his arrival in Golarchi in a helicopter on Tuesday.
Former home minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza and his spouse Fehmida Mirza, former speaker of the National Assembly, have continued their public contacts for the local bodies elections.
Fehmida Mirza, speaking to the media in Badin said she was not campaigning against the PPP but was pleading the case of those PPP workers who were angry at the party leadership and contesting the elections as independent candidates.
When she was asked in ARY News talk show 11th Hour if she will receive Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on his arrival in Badin? She said how could she receive him, when not informed about his arrival.
Mirza also alleged that the provincial government was involved in pre-poll rigging. Mirza also said that she and her spouse Zulfiqar Mirza are facing threat to their lives.
