‘After my death, Abhishek and Shweta will equally share my assets’: Amitabh

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan seems to be a strict believer of famous saying ‘practice what you preach’. He often speaks on gender equality and now he went a step ahead in proving it.

Big B took to Twitter and shared a picture where he is holding a placard that declares that all his assets shall be divided equally between his daughter and son after his death.

Apart from his frequent social media posts about heartfelt passion for daughters, Amitabh is also hailed as a champion of gender equality ever since his film Pink, starring Taapsee Pannu, impressed critics and fans alike with the message that stressed the importance of a woman’s consent.

Here’s what the ‘Big B’ said about bequeathing his assets

Right before the release of his film in September 2016, Amitabh wrote an open letter to his granddaughters Aradhya Bachchan and Navya Naveli Nanda, urging them to follow their hearts and never bend to social conventions.

Amitabh Bachchan has two granddaughters — Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s daughter Aaradhya (4) and Nikhil and Shweta Nanda’s daughter Navya Naveli (18).

Amitabh had told the girls through letter to stay steadfast and how to cope with the difficult situations.

The open letter was not meant for his grand-girls only but for all the girls of new age, viewing rise of gender issues in India.

He seemed not completely satisfied with his letter in writing only so he read it aloud in a video clip he posted on his Facebook account.

To Aaradhya, he said, “I don’t know when you will see it but this is how I looked in year 2016.”

He tells the girls to “make your own choices in the light of your own wisdom and never worry about log kya kahenge (what will people say)”.
