TURBAT: In a major breakthrough in fight against terrorism, as many as 200 Baloch militants along with their commanders surrendered before the authorities on Thursday during a ceremony held at Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters in Turbat.

Incumbent Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and Commander Southern Command Lieutenant (Lt) General Asim Saleem Bajwa were the chief guests of the ceremony.

Laying down their weapons, the insurgents announced entering into the national mainstream and abandoning their loyalties to armed militant groups in the province.

The chief minister presented national flags and laptops to the militants’ commanders of various proscribed terror outfits. He invited the misled elements to come back to their motherland and take part in constructive activities.

Earlier, the separatist leaders including Brahamdagh Bugti and Mehran Marri had suffered a major setback when Swiss government denied political asylum to Bugti and imposed lifetime entry ban on his brother-in-law Mehran Marri in Switzerland.

Bugti confirmed that the Swiss government turned down his application after seven years of time period on his official twitter account.

According to Swiss government, the political asylum to Bugti was denied for having links with a militant organization, namely Baloch Republican Army (BRA). The outfit has been allegedly involved in carrying out numerous terror attacks across the province.
