Authorities decide for crackdown against bookies

As the Cricket World Cup 2015 is all set to kick-start, bookmakers have been looking forward to make more and money by placing massive bets on the game.

However, the concerned authorities on Thursday decided to launch a crackdown against bookies in Lahore.

All the station house officers (SHOs) in Lahore have been provided the list of bookmakers in this regard.

On the other hand, bookmakers have already gone underground fearing arrests, while some have reportedly shifted their ‘set-ups’ to posh areas of the city.

A similar situation is also being witnessed in Karachi, where police have been keeping a watch on bookies.

Struggle for gaining turf among different bookmaker groups had also claimed life of a notorious bookie in Karachi, Anees Memon, a couple of days ago.
