QUETTA: Arsalan Iftikhar, son of former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary, has resigned as vice chairman of Balochistan Board of Investment, ARY News reported Thursday.
The Balochistan government had appointed Iftikhar some days ago on the post. Sources told that Arsalan had sent his 6-page resignation to the CM Balochistan.
Political circles and members provincial assembly of Balochistan had earlier registered their protest against Arsalan’s appointment. However, the CM Abdul Malik Baloch insisted that he himself appointed Arsalan, saying he would help bringing investment in the province.
Sources said the Malik was facing intense from within his own party after Arsalan’s appointment. A senior leader of National Party is also agitated over the decision.
Different political analysts have also taken exception to the decision regarding appointment of a person on important post who is facing corruption charges.
