Army chief seeks Afghan help in bringing Charsadda attack culprits to justice

DG ISPR, Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa said on Twitter that the COAS today held telephonic conversation with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, CEO Abdullah Abdullah and US Commander General John F. Campbell, and shared with them the details of the heinous attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda that left 21 students and staffers dead on Wednesday.

He apprised them that the investigations and leads found so far establish that the attack was being controlled from a location in Afghanistan by an operative of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) using an Afghan SIM card.

General Raheel Sharif asked top Afghan leadership and the US commander for cooperation in locating and targeting the ones responsible for the heinous act, and to bring them to justice.

Yesterday, four militants stormed Bacha Khan University in Charsadda armed with AK-47 assault rifles and hand grenades, and attacked students and staffers on the campus.

The assault left 21 people dead on the campus, while all of the four assailants were shot dead by security forces. The operation lasted for nearly six hours including clearance of all buildings on the campus.
