Anti-polio drives underway in Karachi, Quetta

In Karachi, anti polio drive is underway in 11 Union Councils (UCs). This is the first time the children are being immunized through vaccines.

It was decided by the polio officials to administer the drops through an effective method.

Strict security measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the polio teams throughout the occasion.

The immunization drive in Quetta seeks to rid 4,76,456 children from the crippling virus for which 958 teams that will administer drops from door to door.

Health Department of Balochistan has said that the drive will be held in two phases. The first round will be held from 15th to 18th December whereas the second phase will commence from 20th to 23rd December.

The drive in the Balochistan’s capital was delayed due to attack on polio teams.

It should be noted that Pakistan is amongst the only three countries of the world where polio cases are reported. The country was slapped with travel restrictions due to the crippling disease.
