LAHORE: A new petition has been filed in the accountability court to stay auction of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s property, ARY News reported on Friday.

The accountability court in Lahore conducted the hearing of petitions against the auction of Nawaz Sharif’s property. The court adjourned the hearing of petitions filed by Yousaf Abbas and others till January 17.

A new petition was filed in the accountability court seeking a stay order for auctioning Nawaz Sharif’s property. The lawyer said that the auction process will be challenged if Nawaz Sharif returns Pakistan.

The petitioner’s lawyer pleaded with the court to stay the auction process. The petitioner stated that Shamim agriculture farm and other properties were currently in possession of tenants.

Later, the accountability sought a reply from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the petition seeking a stay order for properties’ auction.

It may be recalled that NAB’s decision to auction the PML-N supreme leader’s assets had come after he was declared a proclaimed offender in the Toshakhana reference.

On April 23, Judge Syed Asghar Ali had directed the deputy commissioners of Lahore and Sheikhupura to sell immovable properties within 60 days, including House N0.135, Upper Mall, Lahore and 88.4 Kanals of agricultural land.

The bureau had also provided details of saleable properties of Nawaz Sharif to the DCs in a letter, which include 940 Kanals agricultural land at Moza Manak and around 299 Kanals farmland at Moza Badoki, over 103 Kanals of land at Moza Mall and about 312 Kanal in Moza Sultanki.
