Amitabh Bachchan’s “second birthday” today

“Some years you do not wish to remember. Thank you to them that prayed for me,” the septuagenarian star tweeted while remembering a fatal accident of his life.

Bachchan had met with a nearly fatal accident while doing an action scene on the sets of Coolie movie in 1982. The actor was in hospital for around two months in almost a coma-like situation. It took him several months to recover from illness.

Amitabh also retweeted his fans’ posts, who wished him love, happiness and good health.

“To all that wish me today, may I just say I am overwhelmed by your prayers and concern and love. Indebted,” the ‘Namak Halal’ star wrote on his twitter account. “I dwell in the joys of your love respect and affection.. Nothing greater than This..”

Abhishek Bachchan also posted a picture of his father, draping a cloth sheet with reverent words written on it, on Instagram along a caption that read: “I can’t even remember how many times I would drape a bedsheet in the same way and re-enact this sequence from ‘Coolie’. Would make my friends play the role of Zafar and shoot me with a plastic play gun and I would play the part of Iqbal.

“Yup, I learnt very early in my life that god made only one Amitabh Bachchan. Happy second birthday Pa. You are my inspiration.”

While commenting on artworks made by his fans to wish him 25th second birthday, Amitabh expressed embarrassment in his blog and said: “They make these art works to commemorate the Aug 2, 1982 birthday .. !! It embarrasses me .. but the sentiments of the people who attach themselves to my life cannot be ignored and so this ..”. Indian cricket star Virendar Sehwag also tweeted:
