Amir Khan, Salman Iqbal join hands to bring Super Boxing League to Pakistan

KARACHI: CEO ARY Digital Network Salman Iqbal and boxer Amir Khan have joined hands to bring a professional boxing league to Pakistan by the name of “Super Boxing League”, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

The league, first of its kind in Pakistan, will kick off following an inauguration ceremony on Thursday.

Salman Iqbal, who also owns PSL franchise Karachi Kings, and Amir Khan will jointly serve as boxing league’s chairman. The tournament will see eight teams owned by cricketing and showbiz celebrities locking horns for the title.

Out of the eight teams, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi owns Pakhtoon Warriors, legendary pacer Wasim Akram bought Multan Nawabs while CEO ARY Digital Network Salman Iqbal and actor Fahad Mustafa jointly own Karachi Cobras.

The renowned boxer announced his plans to bring the league to Pakistan in May, Outside of boxing, he is a philanthropist with his own charity organisation, Amir Khan Foundation. He is also a promoter and sponsor, the owner of Khan Promotions and Pakistan’s Amir Khan Academy.
