KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Farooq Sattar on Friday expressed fear that the issue was not with Kamran Tessori’s Senate ticket only but it was Amir Khan group that wanted to take over the MQM-P.

“It is not just the matter of giving Kamran Tessori a party ticket for the Senate elections, but Amir Khan group wants to completely take over the party. He once again wants to carve out a Haqiqi 2 of MQM,” he reportedly said this while addressing a huddle with MQM-P MNAs and MPAs at PIB Colony.

On inquiring, sources said, the participants of the meeting said whomsoever Farooq Sattar wanted to give ticket for Senate elections, they would agree with it.

Sources said the MQM-P members and officials gave the party convener veto powers in the meeting.

The forum reportedly had a consensus that they would go to Bahadurabad only after the leaders in Bahadurabad will withdraw from their stance on the party ticket for Senate elections.

The war of words between the two groups of the MQM-P, one in Bahadurabad and another in PIB Colony, continues on giving Kamran Tessori ticket for Senate elections. The coordination committee has stated that Farooq Sattar issued tickets violating the party’s constitution.

However, Farooq Sattar has said that the coordination committee had no status to hold meeting without the convenor, and he had the final authority to issue tickets.
