The paper quoted him as saying after his selection: “I am delighted and honoured to have been selected to fight Swansea East at the next General Election. Swansea East has some of the most deprived communities in Wales with the problems of crime, drug and alcohol abuse, poor health and low educational achievement associated with poverty.”
