Apparently, Ali Zafar is not only a versatile, talented artist of note but he also has a big heart and tends to help out people in their time of need.
Noorena Shams had given up on her dreams of performing at the Asian Squash Tournament as she had been unable to find a sponsor. The participation fees and other heavy expenses incurred in order to participate in an international squash event, makes it impossible for independent players to participate unless backed by government funding.
After being rejected by sponsors, it was Ali Zafar who stepped up and offered to pay for the Under 17 squash player’s expenses and all legal fees for participation in the Asian Squash Tournament. A jubilant Noorena could not hide her happiness at the prospect and stated that she was happy Ali Zafar had stepped up to help her.
“After not receiving sponsorship I thought this was the end of my career. I couldn’t imagine that a screen hero would
be my real life hero and my dreams would be fulfilled. I was not disappointed by the decision of the authorities as they try to send the best players and someone who will bring a title for sure. However, a chance like this can change a sportsman/athlete’s life. Even Messi didn’t score well in his first match. His journey started after he was given a second chance and I think God sent an angel to help me too.”Noorena Shams is an extraordinarily talented individual and has garnered various accomplishments. She ranks third in U-19 women’s category in Asia and is the youngest Olympian from Pakistan. She’s an artist, U-13 cycling champion, U-19 women’s cricket team player. She holds 62 gold medals and has been the national debating champion for two consecutive years from 2012 to 2013.
In 2011, Noorena had again made headlines when she had taken the highest number of wickets as a spin bowler in as part of the national U-19 cricket team.
