LAHORE: A court in Lahore awarded death penalty to a fashion model for killing a fellow model and rival by giving her poison, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
According to ARY News correspondent, Additional district and sessions judge (AD&SJ) awarded death penalty to Uzma Rao alias Tooba, the main accused in the case pertaining to the 2014 murder of Abeera, an aspiring fashion model.
The court, however, released two of the other suspects Zeeshan and Farooq on account of lack of incriminating evidence.
Back in 2014, 20-year old Abeera’s body was found from Lorry Adda bus stand in Lahore. Law enforcers later arrested her friend Uzma and two of her accomplices with the help of CCTV footage.
Uzma Rao alias Tooba later confessed to killing Abeera by poisoning her yoghurt. Police had said that Tooba’s friend Farooqur Rehman and his friend Zeeshan were also involved in the murder as Tooba had asked Zeeshan to provide her with the poison.
