KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aamir Liaquat went on a Twitter rampage against his party’s local leadership on Tuesday over their decision of not inviting him to a meeting at Governer House.
The conflict grew bigger when other party leaders jumped in, rejected or contradicted his claims, and replied to his criticism.
According to a media report, the PTI leader also said that he is not indebted to PTI chief Imran Khan or his party’s ideology and election campaign for his success in Karachi’s NA-245 constituency.
The claim has been rejected by a number of party leaders including Senator Faisal Javed who even dared the televangelist to contest polls independently or from any other party, but what Aamir Liaquat himself said a day after July 25 elections sure carries more weight.
Turns out the PTI leader, who attended ARY News Election Transmission on July 26, clearly said that people only voted for Imran Khan.
“All the votes cast in Karachi (in PTI’s favour) were in favour of Imran Khan,” Aamir Liaquat had said.
He can be seen showering praise on PM Imran Khan for his simplicity and maintained that he joined PTI for he loved Imran Khan’s determination and resolve to bring a positive change in the country.
It is pertinent to note here that the televangelist, who joined PTI in March, had said on the occasion that he feels PTI is the right place for “his brand of politics”.
“This is the last party I have joined,” Liaquat had said in reply to a question.
About why he joined politics again after claiming to leave it altogether in 2016, Amir Liaquat said that he actually left “Siah-sat” (dark or anti-people politics) not politics.
