“Do you want to enjoy the weekend,” Justice Mian Gul Aurangzeb remarked on Babar Awan’s request to defer the hearing of the case till Monday.

The State Council received the court notice and is expected to prepare a response accordingly. The notice calls for the submission of First Information Reports (FIRs) against Asad Umar. The court has scheduled the next hearing for Tuesday to further deliberate on the matter.

It is pertinent to mention here that PTI secretary general Asad Umar challenged his arrest under MPO in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The former federal minister in his plea stated that as per SC’s verdict, arrests cannot be made on the premises of the high court. During arrest from the IHC premises, my fundamental human rights were affected, Umar further said in his plea.

He pleaded with the court to strike down his arrest and order release.
