LAHORE: In a step to facilitate the government officials, the Punjab government has increased benevolent fund grants for its employees on Wednesday.
Presiding over a high-level meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar approved to increase three times marriage grant for the children of government employees.
The amount of marriage grant has been increased from Rs.40,000 and Rs.50,000 to Rs.150,000 for the employees.
According to a statement released from the CM’s office, “Scholarships for the children of public employees have been enhanced and Rs.20,000 stipend will be given for primary to secondary school students per annum whereas the students of higher secondary schools will be given Rs.50,000 educational scholarship annually.”

In case of death of a government employee, the heirs would be given Rs.50,000 funeral grant, the statement said and added that the monthly grant of widow of government employee had been increased from Rs.5,000, Rs.9,000 and Rs.12,000 to Rs.10,000, Rs.15,000 and Rs.20,000 respectively . The widow of government employee would be given monthly grant for life.
The new rates of benevolent fund grants would be applicable from May 10 while increase in marriage and funeral grant will be implemented after May 10.
A notification in this regard has been issued by Services & General Administration Department (S&GAD) today.
