LAHORE: Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shehbaz, has challenged the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) raid at his residence in Lahore High Court (LHC), ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Hamza Shehbaz in a petition, filed in the high court by Advocate Azam Nazir Tarar and Amjad Pervaiz, pleaded to the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against director general NAB and deputy director Chaudhry Asghar over the raid at his residence in Model Town, Lahore.

In his petition, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said that the court had earlier ordered the NAB to avoid raids and harassment.

The NAB officials conducted raid and harassed the women present at the home, the petition further said.

Such an act on the part of the NAB is contempt of court and proceedings to this effect be initiated against it, the petition requested to the court.

A team of the National Accountability Bureau conducted raids at the residence of Hamza Shehbaz on April 5 and 6 to arrest him in a NAB inquiry.

The high court on a petition stopped the bureau from arrest of Hamza Shehbaz on Saturday April 6 after which the officials returned from his H-96 residence in Model Town.

The NAB has summoned Hamza Shehbaz today in a case pertaining to assets beyond known sources of income. He was directed to come up with details of tax return from 2006 to 2008.
