Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme to commence in Lahore, Faisalabad next month

LAHORE: The government will launch the construction of low-cost housing units under the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme in Lahore and Faisalabad from next month, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

A meeting of Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) was held here today which was presided over by Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed.

Director General PHATA Liaqat Ali Chatha and other board members also attended the meeting. The minister said that by next month, the low-cost housing scheme would also be launched in Chiniot and Sialkot districts.

“We are amending relevant by-laws to ensure participation of private sector in this scheme”, he was quoted as saying.

The minister directed the town planning agency to complete the land acquisition in other cities of the province on a priority basis from the Liquidation Board.

He also directed the officials to settle with Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) the matter of acquisition of 600 kanals of land.

DG Chatha briefed the participants of the meeting about the scheme progress in Chishtian, Lodhran, and Renala Khurd.

He also briefed about the housing projects of PHATA in Mandi Bahauddin, Hafiz Abad, Toba Tek Singh, Muridkey, Jehlum, Pattoki, Rahim Yar Khan, Minchanabad and Jhang.
