RAWALPINDI: Deputy District Officer (DDO) Dr Zeeshan Zafar on Monday said that dengue larvae was found at four houses in Pirwadahi area, Rawalpindi.
Dr Zeeshan Zafar said strict monitoring had been carried out at adjacent houses to eliminate the larvae breeding.
He said that people stored water in open drums in Pirwadahi area which helped breeding of dengue.
The DDO said that standard operating procedures about anti-dengue were being implemented in letter and spirit and surveillance had been extended in Rawal Town area to control the threat of dengue.
He said following heavy rains water had accumulated in low lying areas, making them ideal breeding sites for dengue mosquitoes.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Chaudary Muhammad Ali has directed the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company to begin a cleanliness drive in the city to wipe out the dengue larvae breeding viewing the changing weather condition.
On February 27, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had directed the concerned authorities to accelerate the anti-dengue drive across the province.
Presiding over a meeting to review the steps taken for the eradication of dengue at his office, Usman Buzdar had directed the line departments to proactively work for the eradication of dengue.
CM Buzdar had said that all the line departments should perform their duties with dedication and the devised plan should be fully implemented.
