RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Imran Khan’s special assistant on political affairs, Naeem ul Haq said that the prime minister wished for the restoration of sports activities for the youth and steps were being taken to uncover the hidden talent in Pakistani youth, ARY News reported on Saturday.
Talking to media representatives, Haq said that the government wanted the nation’s youngsters to grow up in a healthy environment and to that end, the government was working on establishing new playgrounds in far-flung areas of the country and restoring the ones already there.
Responding to a question, Haq said that the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) was misleading the nation on facilities available to the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
He lamented the opposition’s behaviour in the parliament, saying that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government wanted opposition’s cooperation in the parliament [for the resolution of public problems], but the Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif started taunting the prime minister directly as soon as the latter arrived in the National Assembly.
“PM Khan was prepared to deliver a ‘good’ speech in parliament that day, however, due to the ruckus caused by the opposition, it couldn’t materialise”, he said.
He said that the process to build five million low-cost housing units had started, whereas the government was also working on to provide ten million jobs over the next five years.
