ISLAMABAD: Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed today across the country to condemn unprecedented Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir.

The federal cabinet at a special meeting earlier this week decided to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on April 6 (Friday) to condemn brutal treatment of Kashmiris and flagrant violation of all human rights and to reaffirm Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Kashmir in their just and legitimate struggle for their right to self-determination.

Rallies, functions and walks would be held in different parts of the country as well as by Pakistanis and Kashmiris living around the globe to highlight Indian atrocities and call for peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute.

In Azad Kashmir, main rally will be taken out in Muzaffarabad, whereas similar rallies will be taken out from the Deputy Commissioners offices in Districts Neelum, Jhelum Valley, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli, Kotli and other districts.

The federal cabinet paid rich tribute to the brave and resilient people of Kashmir who have persistently  been struggling for their rights in the face of brutal repression, incarceration, torture and extra judicial killings perpetrated by the Indian government.

It strongly condemned the draconian laws, including POTA, TADA, PSA and AFSPA imposed by India in Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. It further stresses that the deteriorating situation in IoK and escalation at the Working Boundary and the LoC is a flashpoint and a threat to regional peace and tranquility.
