LAHORE: Daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz on Friday demanded to change the system of judiciary, ARY News reported.
“There is a need to change the system of judiciary rather than prime minister, when the system is not so strong that it could punish a dictator,” she said while addressing a prayer ceremony held at St. Anthony’s Church in Lahore for early recovery of Maryam’s mother Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. Kulsoom has undergone a surgery in London after she was diagnosed with throat cancer.
Maryam Nawaz said on the other hand the former president and dictator Pervez Musharraf attacked the constitution and fled from the country and the court failed to punish him.
Maryam asked why development of country was halted and instability created in the country by disqualifying the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
On July 28, the apex court had disqualified Nawaz Sharif for not being honest by concealing his salary from a Dubai-based company and directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file references against him and his children on the basis of the report of a joint investigation team that probed their off-shore properties.
She said her father was not disqualified on corruption even after running a case for one and a half years, rather he was disqualified for drawing salary from his son’s company abroad. Nawaz was not involved in corruption of a single penny, she said.
Daughter of former PM credited her father for eradicating terrorism from the country, bringing the China Pakistan Economic Corridor to Pakistan and other development projects like metro buses, road networks and trains.

She said Nawaz had always been handed over country in a devastated form and he always put it back on the track of development. When we came into power mosques and worshipping places were under attack, she said.
Maryam Nawaz also said, “Christian community’s love is everlasting and I am proud of them. We all are Pakistanis and we share our happiness and sadness. I am thankful to you for your prayers,” she said.
She said the masses will answer disqualification of PM on September 17 in Na-120 by-poll. People would take to streets on Sept 17 for Nawaz, Pakistan and for sanctity of votes, she said adding that Nawaz’s fight was for the masses.
