ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has remained quiet on the situation arose after the submission of JIT’s report as he persistently avoided meetings held at Prime Minister House here and chaired by the premier.

As the premier’s close aide, the interior minister seemed dissenting with other Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) senior leaders who are of opinion that the prime minister should not step down.

Nisar was present at Punjab House in Islamabad on Tuesday where he looked after the routine official maters, sources said.

Analysts believe his silence on the matter apparently shows division in the ranks of PML-N top leadership over the issue of whether Mian Nawaz Sharif steps down and fight the cases against him or remain in the office and face the aftermath of the damning JIT report, submitted in the Supreme Court.

Nisar, who is generally known for his verbal outbursts and vocal opinions, has remained close-mouthed on the latest happenings in the aftermath of the JIT report submission and avoided issuing any statement.

Informed sources further said that he hasn’t met any active leader of the ruling party.

Nisar’s inattentive behaviour towards the prevailing issues faced by the party has stirred discomfort in PML-N’s camp.

The party workers and federal ministers are still awaiting his statement as Nisar was the one who drove the premier to the judicial academy during his appearance before the Panamagate JIT.
