ISLAMABAD: Pakistani religious scholars from all the sects have joined hands against terrorism and extremism and issued a joint religious decree on the advent of Ramadan proclaiming suicide bombing Haram (unlawful), ARY News reported.
The scholars termed militancy and anarchy against Pakistan an unlawful act (Haram) in the joint fatwa (religious edict).
“Those promoting suicide bombings are rebels and such elements are violating the law, hence they should be dealt with iron hand,” said the fatwa presented in the seminar on ‘Reconstruction of Pakistani Society in the Light of Charter of Madina’ at International Islamic University in Islamabad.
President Mamnoon Hussain, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
The president greatly appreciated the fatwa issued by the Ulemas of all schools of thoughts condemning terrorism and extremism.
The fatwa has been signed by 31 notable scholars including Mufti Rafi Usmani, Mufti Muneeb Ur Rehman and Mufti Naeem.
The Ulema said the philosophy of Jihad of the outfits carrying out suicide bombings is misleading and based on poor knowledge of Islam.
“Terrorism in the name of Jihad is unacceptable,” Mufti Naeem said while talking to ARY News.
It is pertinent here to mention that Islam does not permit even committing suicide let alone suicide bombing which takes innocent lives.
