SEHWAN: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Friday said certain politicians and ministers were giving the impression that he does not have the courage to stop gas supply to other provinces.
The chief minister speaking to media at his native village Wahur where he had gone to observe the tenth death anniversary of his father and former chief minister Syed Abdullah Shah, vowed to protect and fight for the rights of the people of Sindh, as it was his mandate and constitutional responsibility.
He said that the constitution of Pakistan strengthens him to provide natural gas to the people of the province first and then share the surplus with with other provinces.
“I would advice them to read the constitution which empowers to first meet the gas requirement of the people of Sindh and then share with other provinces,” he said.
CM Sindh said that he was working tireless to reduce the shortfall of power in the country, but some ministers were against the move to steer the country out of darkness.
He said the Sindh government has established a 100MW power plant and laid transmission line from Nooriabad to Karachi, but Sui South Gas Company (SSGC) at the behest of some ministers is reluctant to provide gas.
He termed the SSGC company statement about provision of bank guarantee as absurd and said that these guarantees are submitted once the agreement is signed.
“People of this country are well aware, don’t try to hoodwink them,” he warned the SSGC and others who are misguiding people.
Replying to a question, he said that Nawaz Sharif was the prime minister of Pakistan and could visit Jacobabad and any part of the province.
“I am inviting him to Sehwan also and solve the problems of the people,” he said but went on and said the premier’s team was trying to fail him and was not sincere in solving the energy crisis.
Talking about Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani who has stopped working in protest against the attitude of federal ministers, he said the PML- N has never given importance to parliament as they believe in dictatorship.
PML-N committing excesses with Sindh
Later, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah while addressing a public gathering on the occasion of the death anniversary of his father and former chief minister Syed Abdullah Shah, deplored that Sindh was facing twenty hours long load-shedding which is enmity against the people of the province.
CM Sindh threatened that they will have no option but to snatch their due rights, if gas was not provided to Sindh within one week. He said that even PML-N president has told the prime minister about excesses with Sindh.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that Benazir Bhutto had shown her trust in his father and made him Sindh Chief Minister, while PPP Chairmen Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari had expressed similar trust in him.
Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani in his address said that people in the prime minister’s public gathering in Jacobabad were hired, and he had made false promises in Sindh.
Sindh minister Nisar Ahmed Khohro said that Nawaz Sharif was having farewell parties in his honour in Sindh, while Manzoor Wasaan deplored the double-standard that Sindh produces gas but people are deprived from it.
Senator Aajiz Dhamra, Sindh Minister Sikandar Mandhro, and parliamentarian Malik Asad Sikandar also addressed the gathering.
