CTD kills five ‘terrorists’ in Layyah shootout

LAHORE: In continuation of offensive against terrorists and their facilitators after a fresh wave of militant attacks across the country, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Sunday claimed to have killed five terrorists in a shootout in Layyah.

The terrorists killed by the CTD were said be associated with banned outfit Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group.

On Friday, law enforcement agencies killed at least 35 terror suspects in nationwide raids in a crackdown after deadly attack on shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan.

Pakistan Rangers Sindh killed eighteen militants while two officials were injured in Sindh.

The law enforcers also carried out raids in Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Bannu of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Orakzai agency of FATA.

In Peshawar three suspects were killed in the Reggi area on the outskirts of the city. SSP Operations said that the suspects refused to stop at checkpost and fired at the Police. Three were killed in the gunfire while explosive material was also recovered from their possession.

In Quetta, the Frontier Constabulary killed one militant near Darakshan area on Sariab Road, while two officials were also injured.
