Sindh govt announces public holiday for Hindu community on Diwali

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has announced a public holiday on Monday for the Hindu community on account of the religious festival of Diwali.

He congratulated the Hindu community on the auspicious occasion, and lauded their services and sacrifices in the development and prosperity of Pakistan.

He said that they are with the Hindu community in their moment of joy, and will continue to safeguard the rights of minorities across the province.

The provincial government has given the Hindu community representation in parliament and other administrative departments, and has prioritised to solve their legitimate demands as well.

Diwali falls on Sunday 30th October, but the Sindh government has announced that a public holiday would be given on Monday 31st October.

Murad directed the Chief Secretary Siddique Memon to issue a notification. He said that the people of Sindh stand together with the Hindu community in their celebrations.
