In her application to Kohsar Police Station, the woman activist accused Maulana Hamdullah of trying to assault her, hurl threats and threaten with dire consequences.

According to police, a case would be registered after examination of the TV footage in which the Senator actually targeted the woman with expletives.

After the TV show on June 10 whose footage went viral on social media in Pakistan, people condemned in large numbers the attitude of the Senator hurling abuses at a woman activist.

Right after the programme, Ms Sirmed tweeted: “I’ve just undergone a very traumatic experience at a program when Hafiz Hamdullah of JUIF got angry.”

“…on a comment by Barrister masroor. On my turn, I started by saying “I agree with Masroor sahib to the extent that” and here Hamdullah and went on and on with his arrogance and rudeness. I responded in almost the same coin… I returned this to his own family women. And then he tried to beat me. All of this recorded in camera,” tweeted Sirmed.
