SANTIAGO, Chile: A 6.4-magnitude earthquake of “great intensity” struck central Chile on Friday, but there were no immediate reports of damage, officials said.
The quake, which struck in the early afternoon, shook buildings in the capital Santiago and caused panic among residents, AFP correspondents said.
The quake hit 41 miles (66 km) from the city at a depth of 72.1 miles (116 km), the USGS said.
